The Gutters #249

Hi guys

Here's a very fast assignment I did last night for The-Gutters. On the website you can see the "published" version and here you can see the lay-out, pencil and ink progress. Had a lot of fun doing it, primarily, for the satyric/parody side of the thing and second for the lot of playing I had to do with body language and facial expressions.

So, here's the published page

The lay-out:

Good bye Al.

Today Al rio passed away. Al was one of the artists who most af others influenced my grown as an artist, in the years (specially when I was at the early stages) I used to spend countless hours studying, analyzing or just looking at his images. I think it's pretty useless to stay here and say how I was (am) a big fan, how I've always refered to him as one of my main influences, how I was honored to have him covering books I drew, etc... but I think the only sensate thing I can say here is: I loved your art Al, I loved your effort in giving the world so many beautiful pieces of art and I thank you for being that unachievable ability in creating such beautiful pieces of art that I've chased by the first time I've seen your art. Please, for who of you who don't know who Al Rio was go: bleedingcool.com and alrioart.com, for who of you who already knew who he was I'm sure you already did.

Good bye Al, good bye my friend.

Batman

It's not often that I'm asked to draw the Dark Knight and, when I got the chance, I play a lot with the outfit :)

Preview and update

Hi guys

Since I'm back in Italy I'm working on a lot of new stuff, I've spent the last days designing new characters for a new mini-series (or series?) written by Ryan Matta (The Complex). I love the character designing part, specially when I've so much freedom as when I work with Ryan, he has very precise ideas but he loves to confront and mix it with my own when we go from the "talking and reading" part (his side) to the "draw-scan-send" part (my side) and I really love putting all the small and meaningless details in every design page. Of course I cannot share anything yet and cannot share the pages I've been workin on too but I think I can show some pencil panel taken from here and there without doing any damage :) Hope you like it. Hear you soon.
